Thief Returns Stolen Toy To Store With A Heart-warming Apology Note

A guilt-racked thief has returned a charity shop's life-size dog mascot, complete with a grovelling apology note. Dachsie, a full size dachshund replica, was stolen from the window of the Blue Cross store in Henley-on-Thames, Oxford, United Kingdom just before Christmas.

Staff had publicly appealed for the return of their beloved toy pooch, and police released CCTV of the moment Daschie was snatched. Now, two months on, Dachsie is back at the shop after the thief apparently had a crisis of conscience.

According to the note accompanying the returned item, the thief "borrowed" it as a Christmas present for her children.

It read:
"Borrowed for children who wanted a little dog. Been well loved but could not get back to Henley before now. Sorry."
