On Saturday 13th Febuary, rangers on patrol inside the reserve around Kariyo were allegedly attacked without warning by Fulani herdsmen armed with bows and arrows. Two of the rangers, Isa Yakubu and Ahmed Umar, sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
Reports say doctors were able to remove the arrow from Yakubu's arm but Ahmed is undergoing surgery this morning to remove the arrowhead from his cheek. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers.
