The Principal of Babcock University Schools, Ogba, Lagos, Mr. Gabriel Fasanu, has urged the federal government to commence the implementation of its free meal programme for children in public schools across the country.
Fasanu, who made this call during the school’s Thanksgiving Service and Community Guest Day, pointed out that the quick implementation of the programme will alleviate the hunger problems school children face, adding that most parents cannot afford three square meals a day.
According to him, poverty and malnutrition of school children often result to poor academic performance and increased number of children who are out of school.
The Principal, however, said the thanksgiving service was a medium for the school to thank God for its numerous achievements in the two years of existence, as well as appreciate the contributions of staff, students, parents and its host community.
