Thirty years ago, on August 11, 1985, Nigeria
won the U-16 FIFA World Championship hosted in China. The current
Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, governed the nation as a military
head of state at that time.
However, in the early hours of this morning, Nigeria yet again lifted the trophy under the leadership of the same person.
President Buhari is now the only head of state to ‘win’ the
tournament twice as the leader of Nigeria. Below is the historic picture
that was taken when he hosted the team on arrival from China.

Nigeria became only the second side to retain the FIFA U-17 World Cup with a 2-0 win against Mali in Vina Del Mar, with Victor Osimhen scoring his record-breaking tenth goal of Chile 2015.
