Woman gives birth at 61, becomes oldest nursing mother in written history

On Monday 19 September 2016, Maria Rosaria Veneruso gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, Elia Francesco, weighing 7lb 7oz at birth. The delivery took place at a hospital in Campania, Italy and the mother says she's 61 years old - which so many scientists are doubting.

The new mother who delivered without IVF happily announced to reporters:

"I have fulfilled my dream. The future does not scare me!"

Dr. Stefano Palmieri after overseeing the delivery noted that mother and child are in stable condition. "It was a peaceful pregnancy," he said.
