We Will All Die Than Let Biafra Exist - Buhari

Muhammadu Buhari, speaking on a visit to the Emir of Daura in his home state, Kastina, suggested that Nigeria will use its last strength to fight the creation of a new country. This is coming in the light of renewed agitation for the emergence of Biafra Republic from the current geography of Nigeria.

Said Buhari on Monday:

"Today, Nigeria is a strong and united sovereign entity because some people laid down their lives for the country.

"At least two million people died during the civil war but, today, some people who were not born during the civil war are agitating for the division of the country. We will not let that happen.

“For Nigeria to divide now, it is better for all of us to jump into the sea and get drowned."

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, one the groups calling for the independence of a Biafra country, has been jailed by the Buhari-led Nigerian government since October 2015 despite receiving several court order in his favour ruling for his release.
