Governor of Ebonyi State David Umahi on Friday reassured citizens of the
state and South East geopolitcal zone that he'll do anything to stop
trouble-causing Fulani herdsmen from crossing into the South East and
South South via Ebonyi.
In his words:
In his words:
“I am deeply concerned about the life of every Nigerian, both those living in Ebonyi State and outside the state. It is our duty to protect the lives of every Nigerian and those who are not Nigerians. And when you have tension building up, you must as chief security officers, have an interactive section and see how we can calm the situation down.
“The last time we met, we were told that our Fulani/Hausa brothers who have lived here for about 50 to 60 years do not pose any problem or threat to us. People that pose problem and threat to us are those who pass through the land. And now, I will be handling the two together. The first one is to say to you, they should not pass again because the tension is very high.
“I did not want to bring the community people, but there is a delegation from all the local government areas here because there is high tension built up not only in Ebonyi, but everyone handles his in his own way. For now, you have to tell them to stay out of passing"
