The Independent National Election Commission (INEC) has released some
results from the March 19 Rivers State House Of Assembly elections which
was marred by violence and irregularities with the two major political
parties APC and PDP accusing each other of being behind the vices.
Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner Aniedi Ikoiwak explained
that INEC will conduct fresh elections for some of the seats:
“Some of the State/Federal Constituencies and Senatorial seats are
inconclusive as a result of reports of election cancellations and
elections not conducted for reasons of serious violence in some units.”
“A new date to conduct [the remaining polls] will be communicated to the public after due consultation with the Stateholders.”
