Man Sentenced To 12 Months Imprisonment For Stealing Oranges In Osun



A middle aged man was yesterday sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by an Osun State Magistrate’s court For stealing oranges worth N10,000.

Delivering her judgement at Modakeke in Ife East Area Office Senior Magistrate, Mrs Bose Awosan, the convict, Yinusa Adeleke, 30, was however given an option of N5,000 fine.

Yinusa Adeleke was found guilty of stealing oranges worth N10,000, property of one Issa Alao after he had pleaded guilty to the one count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt Ona Glory, told the court that the convict, who resides at Oku-Omoni in Modakeke, committed the offence on Jan 1, 2016 around 12 pm at Oku-Omoni, Modakeke-Ife.

Glory had alleged that the accused person was caught in the act of stealing oranges from the complainant’s shop and subsequently handed over to the police.

The prosecutor added that the offence contravened sections 383, 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
