Police in Florida believed Fields but still have to charge him with manslaughter.
He told investigators there was an accident and the woman was shot in the head, according to court records in Florida.
Thecouple had only known each other for a few days when the accident happened.
He informed police she asked him to put a gun to her head as part of their sexual activity. Police say Fields said he took the magazine out of the 9mm semi-automatic hand gun but forgot about the bullet in the chamber, then he pulled the trigger, according to WFLA and she was killed.
Fields later clarified to police that they had not yet began to have sex, but that he was lying on top of her when the gun was fired.
Fields has been formally charged with manslaughter with a weapon, which is a first degree felony. He was also charged with felony discharge with the result of death.
He is currently being held in custody in lieu of a $30,000 bond payment.
