Ambode vows to complete ongoing repairs on Ago Palace way

Respite appears to be coming the way of residence of Ago palace way in Lagos as the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has vowed to complete the ongoing repairs of the road that has been in a deplorable state for so many years.

In a statement released by the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure today September 30th, the state government said the final repairs along Fedrick Fasheun junction to Amuwo-Odofin Bridge and other road projects across the State will receive adequate and prompt attention by his government.

Ambode said efforts are on to ensure that contractors on all its road projects return to work and deliver high quality roads within reasonable timeframe. It explained that in view of the link between Isolo axis and the Apapa-Oshodi and Lagos Badagry Expressway, the Ago Palace way was segmented into phases to ensure ease of financing and delivery.

“Phase 1 of the road is 1.7km long road. It spans between Durban junction and the bridge. Phase 11 is the expansion of the 700m long bridge, while Phase 111 is 1.65km long road that spans between Okota Rd Junction and Fredric Fasehun junction. The three phase have been completed and in use. The phase IV is a 3.05km long road. Currently the project has attained 45% completion with significant works done on all the drainage/culvert and New Jersey barrier works. Also work is at advance stage on relocation of services, soil stabilization, and provision of crush stone before laying of 80mm interlocking paving stone on a segment of the road". The state government noted that erosion and flooding within the carriageway has subsided with the completion of drainage works on both sides of the 3.05 km road, adding that the inclement weather had reduced the pace of activities on the road.

While assuring that pace of work will soon pick up, the statement stressed that optional routes have been provided and made motorable by the contractor. They include Lamidi Ariyo, Folarin Fatunisi, Femi Kila, Ostra Lane, Zoostra Lane, Hakeem Dosunmu, Prince Joseph Adebayo, Awka Etiti, Okiki and Jemtok Street.
